I voted for Zohran Mamdani (among others) today.
Over the weekend, I packed my All-In Studio Carrie Bag, took an easy, 2.5-hour Trailways bus from Port Authority straight up to Rosendale, New York and walked for less than 15 minutes from the stop—along a sky blue-painted bridge, over and alongside Rondout Creek, down Main Street—to the newly opened Six Bells Countryside Inn: a hotel, restaurant, bar, and gift shop that expands the cottage-core world of Audrey Gelman’s storefront in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
The Inn is smaller than I imagined (11 rooms total, each unique), and it looks more dollhouse-like than the actual dollhouse version of itself that sits in the lobby—but it’s very functional and comfortable, I can attest. The real draw, I’d say, isn’t even the decor. Before I get into that, though: my last post was accidentally sent as paid-sub only, with no free preview, so here’s a link to it, in case you’re interested; I wrote about the beauty products I’ve actually used up lately, part of a tangent started after participating in a Bloomsday reading. This is your reminder that there’s way more behind every paywall.
And: Highsnobiety published their annual White Paper today! This one was written by…me! You can read it here after joining the mailing list. It took a while so I’m excited to see it out in the world, even if a lot has changed since the luxury consumer/cultural influencer data was gathered. Looking forward to the discussion it might start.
