On Valentine’s Day (wow, almost a week ago) the Paris Review published a few stories of ex recommendations, including one I wrote. That evening, Document Journal celebrated its new supplement Notes on Beauty at 9 Orchard’s Swan Room with a cocktail hosted by Inez & Vinoodh. I wrote an essay for the issue, which officially launches next month.

I was instead at Mr. Chow on 57th Street, running into friends who had the same exact idea as I did, down to the reservation time. The pre fixe menu included a dessert of petite fours, a glass of Aubry Premier Cru Brut, and a single red rose to take with.
