This is something people do ask me a lot, so I’ll tell you the long version. In person, I answer with a mix of pride and remorse; smoking was my favorite activity and I’ve lost all desire for it. Is this what people on Ozempic feel? I get a certain satisfaction when someone who’s known me a while says, upon noticing that I quit, “but you were a real smoker.” Yes, I was. I worked at it, and it suited me, I think. Cat Marnell has told me on multiple occasions that my name sounds like the action of inhaling and exhaling smoke, then stubbing out a butt: Nata-SHA Stagg.
