I’m getting some interesting responses to my last post about ad copy writing, mostly via email. I just enabled comments and opened the chat section in case you’d like to drop in any anecdotes/reactions there. I’d like to keep collecting examples of literary writers applying or attempting to apply their acumen to advertising. My instinct is that these storytelling skillsets are less intertwined than we might imagine, but that retail will always be inspired by great books, just as everything is, because every business is made up of people, and people generally like to read.
I wrote a guest post for Chloe Pingeon’s Collected Agenda, taking on her signature diaristic format and meticulously documenting almost everything I did in a weekend. It was therapeutic, especially now that I have quit therapy.
This Saturday, February 15th, from 4 to 7pm at Dover Street Market Paris, ALL–IN launches a publication to accompany its forthcoming collection, “Uptown Girl,” with collection notes by me. The limited-edition compilation of photographs taken by Lengua, Laia Bonastre, and Cristina Stolhe, styled by Lotta Volkova, comes in a transparent envelope with the press release printout, confetti, and a curled ribbon. It is also available to pre-order now.
